Traditional dances have been part of the Khmer culture for hundreds of years as evidenced by the many Apsaras (celestial dancers) that adorn the temple walls. No visit to Cambodia would be complete without seeing a dance performance.
Popular dances include Apsara Dance, Fishermans Dance and Coconut Dance.
There are many companies operating traditional dance performances in Siem Reap. Some performances include adults and some include children.
Many bars and restaurants have small shows on small stages with basic lighting and decor. However, there are much larger and professional shows too.
Most places now offer buffet or set menus combined with a one-hour dance performance. Dinner usually begins at 6:00 or 7:00pm and dance performances at 7:30pm or 8:00pm, consisting of 4 or 5 dances (classical and folk). It is best to make a reservation.
For professional shows, check-out Smile of Angkor, Cambodian Cultural Village and Rosana Broadway.
