Chour Sam Rach 22 years
Background
Sam Rach graduated from high school in 2012 and Shinta Mani is proud to offer him a training position in the housekeeping department. He is the second youngest of six children in his family and lives with one of his older brothers. Sam Rach is a very keen learner and is a pleasure to have in the hotel. He is also always a keen participant in English class.

Sam Rach is training in our housekeeping department.
Aspirations
Sam Rach sees big things in his future, and so do we! He plans to find a job in hospitality, so he can afford to study business management at university. One day he wants to be a general manager of a hotel. As well as paying for his studies, we wants to earn money to support his family.
Hin Sokunthea 24 years
Background
Before coming to Shinta Mani Kunthea was working for a hotel for three months for a very small wage. Both Kunthea’s parents are farmers. She has a passion for massage and aromatherapies, so when she heard she could gain an education in the Shinta Mani Spa, she was very eager to apply.

Aspirations
Kunthea wants to work in a Spa in the future. She told us she had heard good things about the spa at Shinta Mani, so she wants to train here then gain a job in the field.
Khoy Sokhoeun 20 years
Background
Sokhoeun comes from a poor family of farmers from Kampong Thom province, about two hours from Siem Reap. He’s been living with his sister in Siem Reap for one year since graduating High School in 2011. He wanted to study, but his parents were not able to afford to send him to university. Before starting his training at Shinta Mani Sokhoeun was working for a small salary as a security guard.
Department
Sokhoeun will be training in our food and beverage department, feel free to ask him about his training if you dine in Kroya, our hotel restaurant.
Aspirations
Sokhoeun wants to find a job so he can pay to study at university. Sokhoeun is passionate about mathematics and wants to one day study engineering.
Kuch Tong 18 years
Background
Tong comes from a small family in Siem Reap. His mother does not work as she has to take care of Tong’s four year old sister, while his father earns a small living as a carpenter. Tong completed high school in 2012, unable to afford a university education, he applied to train in Shinta Mani. He is always smiling and is a pleasure to have around.
Department
Tong’s family background in carpentry and his eagerness to learn made him a perfect candidate for a position in our maintenance department.
Aspirations
Tong wants to find work in Siem Reap in a maintenance position. His family struggles on just his father’s wage so he want to be able to help support his family, especially his younger sister.
Lay Sreypich 20 years
Background
Sreypich finished high school in 2012 and has been working in a restaurant to help her family. Her father is a forest guard and works a long way from Siem Reap for long bouts at a time. Her mother works in Siem Reap selling fish in the markets. Sreypich is the oldest of her brothers and sisters, the youngest being six years old, so she feels pressure to gain skills so she can get a good job to help support the family.

Aspirations
Sreypich wants to become a receptionist at a hotel. When she starts earning some money she will help to pay for her younger siblings to keep studying. One day she would like to be a front office manager.
Oueng Sreyvin 20 years
Background
Sreyvin is from a very big family. She is one of 10 siblings aged between eleven and thirty two. Her father runs a small business washing motorbikes but wants to retire because the work is now too difficult on his body, and her mother is still busy looking after her younger siblings. Sreyvin is a very focused young woman who wants to be the best at her job.
Department
Sreyvin is one of our two trainees in the finance department.
Aspirations
Sreyvin told us that she wants to be the best account, who never makes mistakes in her work. One day she would like to work in a bank.
Phal Rath 21 years
Background
Rath comes from a poor farming family. His family lives in Kondal Province about six hours from Siem Reap, but he moved to Siem Reap after finishing High School in 2011 to live with his brother and find work. This is Rath’s first job and we are happy to have him on board!

Always greeting you with a friendly smile, you’ll find Rath in our housekeeping department.
Aspirations
Rath wants to get a job in a hotel so he can earn enough money to go to university to study business management. One day he would like to own a clothes shop in his home town.
Pheng Srey Leak 21 years
Background
Srey Leak comes from a farming family and her father is also a carpenter. Her family lives in Kampong Thom, but Srey Leak moved to Siem Reap in 2011 in order to find work. She lives with her Grandmother who is now too old to work.
Department
Srey Leak is training in our front office department. She is very friendly and has contagious laugh. She is an absolute pleasure to have in the hotel!
Aspirations
Srey Leak has always wanted to work in the tourism industry. When she finds a job after her training at Shinta Mani she will help support her family back in her home town.
Pol Kim Hum 20 years
Background
Kim Hum comes from a big rice farming family. She wasn’t able to finish high school because her family could not afford to pay the school fees, and needed her to earn money. Before training at Shinta Mani she was working for a small salary as an unskilled security guard.

Kim Hum is Training in our housekeeping department.
Aspirations
Kim Hum wants to find a job in housekeeping next year so she can help support her family and save for her future. She hopes to one day be able to open her own restaurant.
Ra Nga 19 years
Background
Nga’s father passed away when she was 15, since that time she has been helping her mother sell fruit and rice at the family road-side stall. She has only ever worked in the family business before starting at Shinta Mani.
Department
Nga is training in the Food and Beverage Department, and has a bubbly personality perfect for the job!
Aspirations
Nga wanted to train in Shinta Mani after her sister told her about the training. She wants to gain a job in the food and beverage industry to help support her family. Nga one day hopes to be able to open a children’s library in Siem Reap.
Ros Saravuth 19 years
Background
Saravuth is from Pouk District, about 12 kilometers from Siem Reap town. He graduated from high school in 2011 and spent 2012 living in Phnom Penh with his sister. He has studied English before which is perfect for a position as a trainee in Kroya, our hotel restaurant. Saravuth has not had a job before, with his training at Shinta Mani he will be given the skills and experience to be employable in the hospitality industry.

Saravuth wants to be able to find a job so he can help support his family. One day he would like to run his own business. Although he doesn’t know what kind of business he wants just yet, we are sure he will be successful in the future!
Sam Bunny 20 years
Background
Bunny’s family lives an hour out of Siem Reap. He stays in Siem Reap with his sister. He moved to town so he could come to train at Shinta Mani. He comes from a big farming family. He has a passion for playing guitar, and recently put on a show for the rest of the class. Bunny had never studied English before starting at Shinta Mani and is very motivated to learn.

Bunny is training in our maintenance and engineering department.
Aspirations
Bunny wants to get a stable job in an engineering position. He hopes to be able to help his parents rebuild their house as it burned down in late 2012. Bunny is motivated and a quick learner, we see big things in this young man’s future.
Sean Sompors 21 years
Background
Before Sompors began training at Shinta Mani she was unemployed and was staying at home with her younger siblings while her parents worked. She has never worked before and is excited about gaining her education in hospitality.

Sompors will be training in our housekeeping department.
Aspirations
In the future Sompors wants to find a stable job in hospitality where she can help support her parents and younger siblings. Sompors dreams of one day being a teacher as she wants to help young people get an education.
Sem Sophary 23 years
Background
Sophary comes from a poor farming family in Banteay Srei District. She left her family to move to Siem Reap in 2011 and has been Studying English at a local university. Before starting her training at Shinta Mani she was unemployed. Now she is eager to learn and start applying her new skills in her job.
Department
Sophary will be training in our front office department as her English skills are already quite good, and this area will give her more opportunities to practice her English.
Aspirations
Sophary wants to work in the front office of a hotel, which is why she applied to in Shinta Mani. One day she would like to be an English teacher that is able to volunteer her time to teach in poor villages.
Seoung Hour 23 years
Background
Before starting with us Hour was working as a security guard at a hotel. Her family are rice farmers, but she wants to be a massage therapist. She rides her bike for over an hour every day to get to training. She is very motivated in her English class and picks up new skills very quickly.

Hour is training in our spa department.
Aspirations
Hour wants a career as a spa therapist in the future. She recently completed high school, and wants to be able to support her younger siblings to do the same.
Sokh Chhily Kuch 16 years
Background
Chhily is our youngest trainee this year at just sixteen years of age. He comes from a poor farming family in the Preah Vihear province. He finished grade eight of high school last year but was unable to continue because his family could not afford the school fees. He came to Siem Reap in order to find a job so he could return to his studies and finish high school.

Chhily will be training in our housekeeping department.
Aspirations
After his training at Shinta Mani, Chhily wants to find a job so he can afford to finish his high school education. He is picking up his first English class while with us, and is eager to start learning a second language. He has even taken to doing extra study in his lunch break!
Sour Rotha Kanha 19 years
Background
Kanha, like her sister Tevy, has been working at a tour company, selling souvenirs in exchange for language lessons. Both her parents are teachers in public schools. Kanha has very good English, and also speaks some Japanese. She has a knack for languages!
Department
Kanha is training in our finance department.
Aspirations
Kanha said she wanted a big change in her life. She wants to train and get a job in accounting. However, her long long-term goal is to go to university so she can get a well paying job so she can earn enough money to travel around the world. She has aspirations of living and working in the USA. She is an extremely determined girl and we have no doubt she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Sour Rotha Tevy 18 years
Background
Tevy is one of five siblings. Both her parents earn modest wages as public school teachers. Before starting at Shinta Mani, Tevy was working for a tour agencies in exchange for language classes. Her English is quite good as her father is an English teacher. While she is training in the front office department she will have more opportunities to advance her English while talking to guests. So say “Hi” to Tevy, and feel free to talk to her about the program.

Tevy is a very motivated young lady, after her training she wants to find a job so she can study to be an accountant. She also wants to one day own a lady’s clothing shop.
Sun Sok Sima 19 years
Background
Sima’s father is a labourer, while her mother stays at home to take care of Sima’s younger brother. She finished high school in 2012 but was unable to afford to go on to university. Three of her older siblings work in hotels in Siem Reap and Sima wanted to follow in their footsteps. She is a very motivated young lady who is determined to do a good job, whatever the task.

Sima is training in our housekeeping department, she has a great eye for detail.
Aspirations
One day Sima would like to be an accountant. She wants to gain employment in housekeeping so she can afford to study at university.
Touch Monirath 23 years
Background
Before starting with us at Shinta Mani, Monirath was working for a very small salary as a painter. Monirath’s parents have both passed away and he was unable to even start high school when he was younger. He is number six of seven children and lives with his older brother. This will be Monirath’s first formal education since primary school.

Aspirations
Monirath was eager to work in the maintenance and engineering department as he would one day like to be an engineer.
