Institute of Hospitality
Shinta Mani’s Institute of Hospitality supports and educates young Cambodian adults coming from areas of risk. Since its inception in June 2004, it has changed the lives of over 125 individuals and their families, giving them a life full of purpose and hope of a better future.
The Institute selects students for education in the various departments of the hotel, which include front office, food and beverage, spa therapy, housekeeping, and culinary art, which selects the largest number of students. Students undergo a ten-month training that includes life skills and English for all students. In addition to receiving free education, each student also receives a monthly stipend, uniforms, meals, study materials and a weekly supply of four kilograms of rice for their families.
Since its inception, all the graduates of the Institute have secured employment after completing their training. Shinta ManiÕs Institute of Hospitality is funded through individual donations as well from the operation of the hotel. It has received numerous awards for its work in sustainable development and community initiatives including one of the two highly commended awards for ÒBest for Poverty ReductionÓ, at 2006 World Travel Mart in London.
Supporting the Students
We invite guests and friends of Shinta Mani to visit our Institute of Hospitality and meet the students and staff that make our work possible. Guests also have the opportunity to sponsor individual students.
The current cost of educating a single student for their entire education is $1200. Guest can sponsor an individual student for their entire course ($1200) or for a single term ($300). Any guest who sponsors a student will receive details and photos of their students and updates about their student's progress up until graduation.
Friends of Shinta Mani can also choose to support the education at the school with a direct donation. Even a donation of $25 can cover the English books for 10 students!
At this time, Shinta Mani cannot process online donations. Please contact the school administrator at cba@shintamani.com for information about how to make a donation.
