Leave Shinta Mani at 8:30am, we walk through the forest surrounding Angkor Wat, the world’s largest sacred building and an architectural masterpiece. We pause for breakfast (enjoying a breakfast box supplied by Shinta Mani) before vising the southern Gate of Angkor Thom.
The gate, flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side was the entrance to the forfied city of Angkor Thom. At ‘The Bayon’ (12th century) we see its beaufully craed central towers, covered in more than 200 enormous faces, then explore the famous Terrace of the Leper King, and the Terrace of Elephants.
After lunch and a rest back at the hotel, you can relax by the pool during the heat of the day. We set out for Preah Khan temple. At the end of the day we move on to the jungle‐enveloped Ta Prohm – one of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor.
After exploring the temple, return to your hotel, a long but fulfilling day. Duration approx. 8 hours touring, not including rest break.
