OUR MISSION

The cornerstone of the Shinta Mani concept is to parlay the success of our hotels and resorts into support for the local community and sustainability efforts.

In Cambodia, this is done through the Shinta Mani Foundation, which funds an array of programs for disadvantaged Cambodians — vocational, educational, medical, entrepreneurial, environmental, and more.

In Nepal, Shinta Mani Mustang uses the same social enterprise model to support the Pasang Lhamu Foundation, the Sherpa family’s existing nonprofit organization. Established in honor of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to summit Everest, it emphasizes supporting women from remote and mountainous regions in Nepal.

PASANG LHAMU Foundation

The Pasang Lhamu Foundation is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental organization with education, vocation training, health, and immediate assistance as its core pillars. It is named for Pasang Lhamu, the first Nepali woman to summit Everest.

The mother and wife of the current owners of Shinta Mani Mustang, Pasang set a new standard in Nepal for what women can achieve, inspiring generations of women. Her untimely death during the descent of her monumental achievement was a tragic loss, but her inspiration lives on through the foundation the Sherpa family set up in her honor.

We will be developing programs in the Mustang region to support education and training of local women in alignment with the foundation’s vision, as well as expanding to community outreach programs to work on the preservation and promotion of the local culture and customs and environmental agendas to create more sustainable practices in the region.
