Pasang Lhamu Foundation
The perfect model: celebrating and promoting local culture, enables giving back to the community.
Why Shinta Mani projects exist.
At Shinta Mani, the cornerstone of our concept is to utilize the success of our resorts and hotels to support the local community and promote sustainability.
In Cambodia, this is through the Shinta Mani Foundation which has supported a wonderful array of programs to help disadvantaged Cambodians, such as providing training for employment, empowering locals from the community, school support, medical care and environment sustainability projects.
Now Shinta Mani Mustang – A BENSLEY Collection will use the same social enterprise model to support the Pasang Lhamu Foundation, our existing non-profit organisation. With an emphasis on supporting women from remote and mountainous regions in Nepal, Pasang Lhamu Foundation was established in honor of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to summit Everest.
Pasang set a new standard in Nepal for what women can achieve, inspiring generations of women. Her untimely death during the descent of her monumental achievement was a tragic loss but her inspiration lives on through the Foundation her family set up in her name. The Foundation is a non-profit, non-political, non-government organization with the core pillars of education, vocation training, health and immediate assistance.
We will be developing programs in the Mustang region to support education and training of local women in alignment with PLF’s vision, as well as expanding to community outreach programs to work on the preservation and promotion of the local culture and customs and environmental agendas to create more sustainable practices in the region.
These various initiatives will be implemented by the Pasang Lhamu Foundation, directly benefiting from the revenue of Shinta Mani Mustang – A BENSLEY Collection
